For the past five years, Living Longer Living Stronger™ have held an Excellence Awards night to honor the achievements of our Providers, Instructors and Participants. This has traditionally been a closed event for the benefit of those involved in the program, and associated health or wellness providers. We honestly felt that the inspirational achievements of the program and its people should be celebrated in a public forum; somewhere that the message of the invaluable nature of the service could be disseminated to a wider audience.
Consequently, this year, in conjunction with the City of Perth, we have secured the use of the Perth Cultural Centre (outside the State Library) to run the first such event of its kind.
This huge public festival, the first Active Seniors’ Festival, will be held on Saturday November 15 between 10am and 3:15pm. It will feature Ron Alexander, Director General of the Department of Sport and Recreation as our guest speaker, and celebrate the achievements of those in the Living Longer Living Stronger™ programme and other Active Ageing initiatives.
The event will herald these new Active Ageing innovations from COTA (WA) as well as having public demonstrations of Living Longer Living Stronger™, games, music and other features. It will be a great day… and totally free for all guests and onlookers. So come along! We will also have onsite coverage from Channel 7, and totally integrate with WA Seniors’ Week.
