Curtin Volunteers!, the volunteer hub at Curtin University is eager to engage with aged care organisations to connect university student volunteers with our seniors via phone/email/video call. The aim of any such partnership would be to create important intergenerational connections and give senior citizens a chance to share some companionship.

The format of such a program can be tailored to the organisation’s needs based on the greatest value to the individuals. One example would be a 10-week ‘life-story program’ where students would call/video call residents on a weekly basis to interview and then transcribe their stories. All you would need to do is identify those who are interested!

Curtin Volunteers! would recruit, train and support the volunteers through the process, creating a very simple booklet which could be shared with family and friends.

With over 5000 enthusiastic students on their volunteer database, they have plenty of energetic and passionate students eager to get involved in their community.

If believe your organisation could benefit from such a partnership, please contact Krishan Shah at krishan.shah@curtin.edu.au or call 9266 1477.
