Homelessness Advocacy Work (McCusker Interns)
Two UWA Master of Data Science student interns, Santhosh and Sneha, joined us through the McCusker Centre for Citizenship program and contributed 100 hours each for one day a week over three months as valuable team members of COTA WA. They were typical of the kind of support available through the McCusker Foundation to help organisations with specific programs and projects.
Santhosh and Sneha brought significant data analysis skills to their roles, helping us build a better understanding of the factors contributing to homelessness among older women in WA. They worked on a report with a number of practical interventions which will be part of our advocacy efforts with government and non-government agencies. They also wrote an academic journal article based on their research findings. We are grateful for the significant contribution Santhosh and Sneha made, and we miss having them in the office!
